Our Story

Five Rivers Church is a fairly new church with a pretty cool story. God has been up to some really incredible things, so check out this short version of our story …

In the winter months of 2020, Tracy Wright, a pastor whose church lost its space due to COVID, contacted a number churches in the Kettering area about possibly renting their space. Discover Point, a five year old church plant, was desperately looking for a place to meet, and time was running out.

Kettering Church was one of many churches who received a call from Discover Point asking about rental space. Brian Newell, the pastor there, did everything he could to avoid calling Tracy back, but God would not leave him alone about it. He called Tracy back, and they agreed to rent space to Discover Point - the seeds of an unlikely partnership were planted.

Over the course of those winter months, Brian and Tracy began meeting regularly for lunch; these meetings formed the foundation for a friendship that eventually grew into a partnership.

On Easter Sunday, 2021, Kettering Church and Discover Point joined together for a combined service which was so successful they decided to try a few more of them. These successful, combined services led to conversations about the potential of the two churches becoming one. They began praying for guidance, asking God if these two families would be better together.

After months of prayer, investigation, conversation and planning, Five Rivers Church was born on October 24, 2021. It has been an amazing adventure so far, and we look forward to the future!
